SSN Required for all IFP Off-Exchange Applicants

Effective immediately – Social Security Number required for all Individual & Family Plan (IFP) off-exchange applicants.

 

Broker ResponsibilityAs you may know, Health Net needs a Social Security number (SSN) for everyone enrolling in IFP health coverage. This includes spouses or Registered Domestic Partners and dependent children. This is necessary so that we can provide members with verification of coverage for their tax return, as required by the Affordable Care Act.

 


 

Health Net of California, Inc. and Health Net Life Insurance Company (Health Net)

  • If an SSN is not provided on the application, Membership will make two call attempts to the applicant to obtain the SSN in writing.

If the SSN is not provided after two attempts, the enrollment application will be denied.

  • Exception: If the SSN for a newborn is not provided upon application, it must be provided within 6 months from their date of birth.

Providing the SSN for all applicants will speed up the enrollment process.
