At Health Net, we’re committed to providing you with timely and relevant information to help your clients manage and improve their employees’ health. We have an update on our alternative care provider network.
As of January 1, 2017, to simplify our network and better service your needs, First Choice will be our exclusive alternative care provider network. We will no longer offer Optum as the alternative care provider network for acupuncturists, chiropractors, massage therapists, and naturopathic doctors.
Health Net is committed to minimizing disruption to your clients’ care. First Choice maintains a larger network of alternative care providers and many of those providers are also Optum providers. Members will have access to over 6,000 alternative care providers compared to 2,849 in the Optum network.
Employees can verify if their current provider also participates in the First Choice network by using the online provider search at www.fchn.com and click on Find a Doctor.
Your clients still have the option of continuing care with their current provider. However, services will be paid at the out-of-network benefit level if the provider is not contracted with First Choice.
New identification cards will be sent reflecting this change. Specifically, the reference to Optum, as well as the Optum phone number, will be removed from the ID cards. We will notify your clients of the change by letter within the next two weeks. The letter will also include information on how to locate a First Choice provider.
We appreciate your continued partnership with Health Net to protect your clients’ health and the health of your business. We will make every effort to ensure a smooth transition.
