Festive healthy mocktails for an alcohol-free treat

Fruit+juicesThere are many reasons for not drinking alcoholic beverages: you are underage; you will be driving afterward; you suffer from a chronic condition; or you simply don’t care for the taste of alcohol.

Even if you drink alcohol, have you tried the tasty alternatives called mocktails?  They’re great just for yourself, but if you’re throwing a party, they’ll keep everybody happy. Plus, there are many healthy ways to fix them. In fact, they’re as easy as 1-2-3.

Step 1: Start with a base
Try one of these:

  • Club soda
  • Seltzer water
  • Mineral water
  • Sugar-free tonic water

Step 2: Add flavor
Try a splash or two of:

  • 100 percent fruit juice, such as cherry, cranberry, mango or apple
  • Herbal tea
  • Coconut water

Step 3: Add a good-for- you garnish
Go for fresh or frozen fruit, sliced or whole. Add zest with a citrus peel or two. Fresh herbs are a tasty option too—think mint, rosemary or basil.

For a crowd, try putting out an assortment of ingredients. Your guests will have fun mixing and matching them. Add little paper umbrellas and swizzle sticks for a festive touch.
